here are some tips to follow for your portrait session - help us make you look great!

24-48 hours before shoot
  • Eat healthy
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid fatty, greasy, and salty foods prior to shooting
  • Avoid heavy exposure to the sun
  • Avoid alcohol or anything that will make you puffy or bloated
  • Also avoid anything that may stain your teeth (wine, juices, etc)
  • Women, go light on the make-up during this time - let your skin breathe
Make-Up
  • If you are doing your own make-up, do not do any make-up until you just before you leave to go to the studio.
  • If we are doing your make-up, please do not put any make-up on at all.
Morning of the shoot
  • Eat a light and healthy meal: fruit, granola, and a little protein
  • Drink lots of water - The more hydrated you are the better you will photograph
  • Women: do not put on any make-up at all
  • Wash your face with a very gentle cleanser
  • Put on a very light moisturizer
Clothes - Wear Mid-tones
  • Avoid plain black or white colors because they may cause lighting trouble - this may result in contrast problems with finished prints
  • Try to bring colors closer to your skin tone - this will help accentuate your natural features. Wear something that makes you feel great and relaxed
What Not To Wear
  • bold colors and crazy patterns, such as intense plaids, wide stripes, etc.
  • pure black or pure white
  • denim, or leather
  • clothing with visible logos
Neckline
  • Is your neck short or long? A V-neck lengthens the neck; a round neckline shortens it
  • A collar frames the face well, without decreasing the length of your neck
  • A collared shirt with a V-neck or a few buttons undone is most popular
  • Turtlenecks completely hide the neck, which is very un-flattering and should almost always be avoided
Limited Jewelry
  • Avoid distracting accessories, such as large, shiny jewelry - it will take the focus away from your face
  • If you have a pierced ear, wear studs or small hoops
More
  • Scents tap right into the animal part of your brain - they can help get you in the right mood.
  • If you have a perfume/cologne that makes you feel great, or a scented candle that puts your mind at ease, by all means bring it
  • Bring an iPod with your favorite tunes that you particularly like to listen to that will give you the mood you want to capture in your shoot
Hair
  • You want to frame your face, so if your hair is very straight and long, give it some body to accentuate your face
  • Men: Don’t get your hair cut the day before, try to get it cut at least a week before your photo shoot
